What Is a Statement Piece of Jewelry?

Most of My Jewelry pieces are Statement Ones.
Statement pieces of jewelry allow women to step out of the mundane and define themselves as unique, confident, passionate, and interesting people. Statement jewelry is nothing new, but many women will avoid wearing bold accessories because they do not feel comfortable stepping out of their comfort zone. By considering these eight tips, women can find statement pieces of jewelry that will make a positive statement to the wearer as well as the public.

The History of Statement Jewelry

For thousands of years, people have used clothing and accessories to portray who they are. Such itemshave long symbolized class as well as religious and cultural identities. Consider Jackie O's trademark black sunglasses. Above and beyond keeping the sun out of Jackie's eyes, they symbolized who Jackie was. People continue to use accessories, mainly jewelry, to make statements about who they are and what they value.

Understanding Statement Jewelry

Statement jewelry is bold and unique, and it conveys a statement about who the wearer is. Whether or not one is deliberate about style, people judge others based on their appearance. People assume many things about personality, values, and beliefs based on what others wear. By consciously choosing what kind of statement to make, this statement becomes more than just communication to others. It is a statement to oneself, encouraging a person to act the part. In the end, statement jewelry is meant to boost one's confidence. Consider these eight tips to find jewelry that will make the right statement.

1. Size

Statement jewelry is usually big. Chandelier earrings, thick bangles, and bulky pendants are common adornments. While statement jewelry is intentionally large to draw attention to itself and the wearer, such jewelry does not have to be overbearing. Consider personal size as well. For example, petite women may look absurd with overly large jewelry.

2. Slant Match

Slant matching is like slant rhyming. If words don't actually rhyme but are rather close, this is considered a slant rhyme. Apply this same principle to statement style. Although copper and gold do not precisely match, they are a perfect example of how to slant match. They are not the same color, but they are close enough. They look homogeneous enough to work, but there is just enough clash to draw attention to itself. Instead of just wearing a gold necklace with gold earrings and a gold bracelet, choose a copper necklace.

3. One at a Time

Wear only one piece of statement jewelry at a time. If wearing statement earrings, wear a gentle, unobtrusive ring. If the necklace is making a statement, choose simple earrings. Small studs may be perfect. Wearing too many big, bold pieces of jewelry will look a little showy and overdone. When wearing a statement piece of jewelry, choose clothes and other accessories that are pretty calm. Although statement jewelry is easy and powerful, consider using a statement purse, clutch, or other accessory every now and again.

4. Vintage

There are plenty of modern pieces of jewelry that can be used, but the world of vintage jewelry is a gold mine. It is just easier to find unique pieces of jewelry when looking at vintage pieces. Whether a piece of jewelry is antique or just vintage-inspired, it adds sophistication and makes the wearer look more sophisticated.

5. Makeup

Put on the statement piece of jewelry before applying makeup. The idea is to keep one's makeup simple so as not to distract from the statement jewelry. Indeed, one should coordinate her makeup so it is consistent with her jewelry. Although bold makeup is sometimes appropriate, it is better worn without statement jewelry. There is nothing wrong with using makeup to make a statement, but the rule "one at a time" applies here as well.

6. Clothes

Take advantage of the middle ground between plain and grandiose. Avoid attention-grabbing patterns, but use solids, pinstripes, and faded patterns. Many women think that statement jewelry looks better with equally bold attire, but consider two very different outfits. The first is a leopard print blouse, black slacks, and a multi-strand necklace. The other outfit is the same, but it replaces the multi-strand necklace with a simple beaded necklace featuring a small pendant. The first outfit has far too much going on, and there would ultimately be a big clash around the neckline where the two bold pieces meet. The second outfit allows the jewelry to complement the bold pattern. In like manner, it is best to pick simple clothes to complement a piece of statement jewelry. When it comes to bold pieces in an outfit, less is definitely more.

7. Popular Types

This table certainly does not address every type of statement jewelry, but it does point out some of the most common types. It also offers tips for statement pieces that are sometimes worn a little recklessly.

Bib Necklace

These tend to be short, wide, and colorful. As such, they go great with high or scoop neck shirts. A high neck gives the necklace a backdrop whereas a scoop neck outlines the necklace. The idea is simply to wear a shirt that won't interrupt the round appearance of the necklace.

Long Necklace

These are often colorful and may also be multilayered. Since they go so far below the neck, most fashion gurus recommend skipping a belt.

Cocktail Rings

These are rings that usually feature big, colorful gemstones. They are excellent statement pieces because they can be worn with any outfit.

Chandelier Earrings

These earrings are very fashionable. They draw lots of attention to the face, so it is important to use caution when applying makeup. Let the earrings speak for themselves. In addition, choose a hairstyle that keeps the hair out of the way.

Cuffs and Bangles

These thick bracelets come in a seemingly endless variety of colors and patterns. Wear them with short or three-quarter sleeves. Let them take control of the wrists.

Imagine Me - Kirk Franklin
Imagine Me

Imagine me, loving what I see when the, mirror looks at me cause
I, I imagine me, in a place, of no insecurities and I'm finally happy cause, I imagine me, Letting go, of all of the ones who hurt me, cause they never did deserve me, can you imagine me, saying no to thoughts that try to control me remembering all you told me Lord can you imagine me, over what my mamma said and, healed from what my daddy did and, I wanna live and not read that page again.

Chorus - Imagine me, being free trusting you totally finally I can imagine me. I admit it was hard to see you being in love with some one like me finally I can imagine me.

Being strong and not letting people break me down you won't get that joy this time around can you imagine me, in a world where nobody has to live afraid because of your love fears gone away can you imagine me
Bridge-letting go of my past and glad I have another chance and my heart will dance cause I don't have to read that page again.

Chorus - Imagine me, being free trusting you totally finally I can imagine me I admit it was hard to see you being in love with some one like me finally I can imagine me.

This song is dedicated to people like me, those that struggle with insecurities, acceptance and even self esteem. You never felt good enough,
You never felt pretty enough, but imagine God whispering in your ear letting you know that everything that has happened is now..

Vamp -Gone, gone, it's gone all gone
Gone, gone, it's gone all gone
Gone, gone, it's gone all gone
Gone, gone, it's gone all gone
Gone, gone, it's gone all gone
Gone, gone, it's gone all gone
Gone, gone, it's gone all gone
Gone, gone, it's gone all gone

Vamp 2 -Oh nah na na na, oh na na na na na na
Oh na na na na, oh na na na na na na
Oh na na na na, oh na na na na na na
Oh na na na na, oh na na na na na na, oh na na na na na na

Depression can kill. Please always have time to check on your love ones, your friends and people close to you. A simple "Hello, How are you doing?" can make a person feel special, feel that is someone there who cares. Do not let someone get so down into depression without you notice it, by the time you may realize that person is depressed, it can be too late. I know how it feels to lose somebody due to depression, but I know I did the best I could to be there for that person, buts still I wish I have done more, but time went by, and by the time I realized how bad it was, it was too late. Please save a life, just care a little more even if that person pushes you away, insist, be persistent, be there!
Let's Teach our kids that is nothing wrong about showing how their feel as far as they can control their temper;, that is nothing wrong about crying that it will just clean their souls. Feelings count, feelings is what makes us special, is what makes us humans created by God. Let's Teach them to not feel bad or ashamed about how they feel, about crying, or showing their feelings to others. Let's Teach them to not care so much about what other people may say about their feelings, those people will never be there for them when those suppressed emotions or feelings will come out in the wrong way.
